This body of work examines the physical and material implications imposed within confined spaces through a process that relies heavily on chance and self-imposed restriction. Using hydraulic pressure and the manipulation of relief ink the materials collided, creating unpredictable color shifts and separation to create work with an outlook similar to automated surrealism. By placing self-imposed limitations the work confronts the essential questions of materiality which requires the material to answer questions of principle through its natural facture. It is the limitation of color, texture, form, intervention of the body, or lack of, the tool and chemistry that gives conviction to the material.
